The San Diego/Tijuana ReEvolutionary Poets Brigade Presents:

A Zoom poetry reading and open-mic to say no more lethal arrests of unarmed Black men & women.  Friday, April 23, 2021, 7:00 PM.

     Hosted by Jim Moreno.

Zoom Assistance by Supertech Alfred Williams

   Zoom ID: 990 814 5215  Password: everyblacklife#1

The Brigade will say the names of all Black, Brown, oppressed, and poor people who have been brutalized and killed in San Diego by the U.S. Criminal Justice System from 1985 to 2019. (From Gloria Verdieu’s book Black August:1619-2019, La Lucha Por Socialismo, 2019.)

Members of the ReEvolutionary Poets Brigade, with guest speakers Gloria Verdieu & Yusef Miller, will read original poems to protest and cease police brutality and racism. Speakers will talk for 10 minutes. Each Brigade poet has 2 poems or 5 minutes. We want to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.

An Open Mic will follow the reading by the Brigade poets. Sign up at or on the day of the event. The open mic is limited to 10 poets with 1 poem each.

Collage Poem

Innocent eyes

wide pleading

Mine with tears

onto murky water

My fingers full of earth shock

each rock I touched, sighed, no opal

Who is talking to me please?

And where do you want me to go?

Tall & straight

 Lithely dancing in moonlight

a home built in trees and flowers

a dream that the earth lives on

So important how a student

can help you dream.
